WHY A MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER?
Organisations including Microsoft, Motorola, Credit Suisse, Prudential and a number of Singapore Government services have engaged Tim Wade as a motivational speaker and performance enhancer for their events and workshops.
Typically, corporate events will include key individuals from within the organisation delivering to internal and external stakeholders. Their content that include past year business results, strategy and opportunities moving forward, product or service portfolio updates and associated training elements. These organisations are also looking for an external speaker to add:
• energy and excitement
• increase participation and engagement
• increase networking and relationship-building
TIM WADE:
Tim Wade, Speaker focuses on Productivity, Psychology and Leadership (PPL) development to increase:
• Productivity
• Business Growth
• Leadership Capability
• Employee Engagement
• Employee Motivation
Tim Wade delivers 45-minute, 60-minute and 90-minute key-note presentations that contain the following elements:
• Energy – during internal strategic and operational presentations, it’s important to raise the energy in the room to ensure that participants are continuing to receive and process the information being presented. Tim Wade does this through audience participation.
o He typically begins with an energetic metaphor for the entire presentation, that uses some audience members to tell an entertaining and engaging story. Then he relates key points of his presentation to the characters in the story, increasing retention and audience insights.
• Entertainment – audience members pay more attention when something is happening all around them that engage their senses as well as their intellect and, importantly, their sense of humour! Tim Wade’s animated and humorous style keeps everyone listening. No one wants to miss out on something funny, so they listen, get the message, and enjoy receiving it!
o For example Tim Wade also uses music and sometimes even has people singing in his presentations, most notably he has the audience singing “Yes We Can!” in unison by the end of the presentation, and laughing at the hilarious result as the entire auditorium (he’s done this with audiences of 30, 400, 1500 and even 10,000 people) comes together in song.
• Inspirational content – Tim Wade’s content reaches each individual, because it’s about them and their team members, and shows them who they are and how they can reach extraordinary levels of Victory.
o He developed the V9 Performance Profile to help leaders identify the characters and mindsets that exist in their teams and how best to increase self-awareness in teams to help team members (and themselves) develop into full contributors of excellent results
• Practical ideas to implement – adult learning is most effective when audience members receive something that they can apply that will make a difference to their sphere of influence. Tim Wade shares tips ideas and perspectives that each individual can use to make a significant positive impact to their team and business results.
o For example, apart from his V9 concept that helps leaders improve team performance, and his productivity enhancement workshops, Tim Wade includes some networking and communication tips and ideas (useful for audiences comprised of people who have come together from many countries), or lessons learned from the leaders he has interviewed or written about in Walk Your Talk magazine, the professional development magazine that he edits and publishes quarterly.

Dear Tim,
It is indeed a pleasure to know about your accomplishments. There are are some questions which I guess would also intrigue you. What is exactly the end result of your motivational programs on your participants? I mean what are they going to achieve for themselves, for their community and for this planet? What would be the final outcome of this enancement of acquisitive & competitive tendencies of people in general?
If at all I am ambiguous in my questions then do let me know.
Best regards,
Navin Kumar
Hi Navin,
thanks for your comments and questions. There are a number of programs that I deliver for organisations that are specifically directed to particular outcomes. For example there are programs on change management, leadership development, productivity and performance improvement and motivation.
Taking change management programs for example, the program is designed to equip participants with the key elements to consider when implementing change programs and in particular the key considerations when communicating and leading change with a team or department of individuals. The goal is to ensure that the changes are accepted, embraced and implemented with minimal resistance and maximum benefit from the change. For this I deal with processes, psychology, risk management, conflict resolution, and execution challenges. At the same I elicit audience examples for discussion and resolution and share specific case studies that illustrate techniques, strategies and results.
However, you asked about motivation and “what they are going to achieve for themselves, for their community and for this planet?” The purpose of a motivation program is to help bridge the gap between current behaviours and potential activity. The idea is to give participants insights into their current state versus their future state and how to transition. In particular it is to help them overcome barriers and hurdles that they have imposed on themselves. For example, someone may use the strategy of cynicism to find fault in others so that they can justify and rationalise staying where they are or not trying. Others may use significant levels of logic and intellectualisation to search for all the risks of change or the futility of trying. So the role of motivation is to search for the motive for action. These are typically emotion-based, and as such a powerful motivational speech will also emotionally impact participants.
My role is to give even more courage, to ensure that participants know that the power resides within them, and to renew their passion so that individuals choose to take the action that will progress achievements for themselves, for their community and the planet. I emphasise completion, for by finishing we have the possibility of a positive result. I also emphasise psychology, for by increasing our awareness of how we think, process information, behave and choose to do or delay, we have a better chance of correcting those aspects of ourselves that prevent our progress, and enhancing those aspects of ourselves that continue to deliver positive results.
Finally, motivation is about encouraging the celebration of progress, and doing it continually. Motivation is something that we need to do for ourselves daily. We have to discipline ourselves to do those things that we have determined are necessary to achieve our desired result. For example if we wish to cultivate positive habits, especially if we are trying to replace a bad habit with a more empowering habit, we need to motivate ourselves all the time. The role of a motivational speaker is to give people insights and resources to do this themselves, as well as an anchor point to a moment of decision when emotionally charged to deliver an outcome.
When someone told a famous motivator that “Motivation doesn’t last” his response was “Neither does bathing, that’s why we do it every day.” It’s our motive for action, and since our emotions vary throughout the day and from day to day, we need to ensure that we continue to motivate ourselves and those around us, encouraging them when their emotions are down, celebrating with them when progress is made or results completed.
Thanks again for your question, Navin, may more positive results be at the end of a new decision to act.
